Bond, Just Bond is theme of Oceanside Music Fest - Oct 11 thru 26 October is “National Art and Humanities Month”. Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, proud member of Americans for the Arts, and the OMFest Committee, feel this time is a perfect way to celebrate with music. The 13th annual Oceanside Music Festival, OMFest, offers concerts this year with a variety of music genre, showcasing both student and professional musicians from throughout Southern California. OMFest series opens with “Bond, Just Bond” Reception And OCAF Scholarship Gala, 6:00 pm to 8:30pm, Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Oceanside Museum of Art, 704 Pier View Way Oceanside, CA. The theme this year is based on the beloved characters from the “007” movies. Attendees will be treated to a Casino Royale Cocktail Hour with an assortment of gourmet foods and wines from local establishments, as well as music, music, music. Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite Bond or Bond girl, and prizes will be presented for the best and most creative costumes. During the evening, the OCAF 2014 Honoree Mr. Mark Phelps will be introduced and presented with an award. Mark is the long time director of instrumental music at Oceanside High, and an extraordinary musician in his own right. Several of his former students have received scholarships from funds raised at OMFest Scholarship Galas. “Global Spirit” concert will follow 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Sunday, October 12, 2014, at St Mary Star of the Sea Church, 609 Pier View Way, Oceanside, CA. This musical event will offer liturgical dancers, and choral groups. The festival will continue with “Give Me That Old Time Religion” concert 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the historic 1st Christian Church, 204 S. Freeman St, Oceanside, CA. Through The Storm Gospel Chorus and Calvary Christian Youth Chorus will be featured with a special opening act. The festival will conclude with “Succulent Jazz” 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday, October 26, 2014, sponsored by and held at Apotheque Spa, 322 N Cleveland St, Oceanside, CA. OMFest organizers are pleased to have Apotheque Spa, owned by Michelle Bartok, as a sponsor of this concert as this will be the perfect way to end the series of events: an afternoon jazz/blues concert featuring Adrienne Nims and Spirit Wind, outdoors in the Apotheque Gardens, with a lovely sea breeze. Wine and hor d’ouvres will be available.
